April 2nd, 2008
The tournament season is finally about to begin. Our first tournament of the season is scheduled for April 12-13, 2008 at Mosquito Lake.
There will be a mandatory registration on Friday at 4:00pm to 6:00pm with a pairings meeting to follow. You may register for yourself or have another competitor of the event register for you. During registration we must have a phone number where your partner can contact you prior to arriving at the tournament Saturday or Sunday morning. Phone registration will not be accepted. You do not need to be present at the pairings meeting. You will be able to find the pairings and a contact information sheet on the tournament trailer, at the host hotel or on the web site. Sunday pairings will be posted Saturday after the weigh-in. The pairings are a random computerized drawing.
The tournament hours for Saturday and Sunday will be 7:00am to 3:00pm. We will have 2 flights with 15 minutes between flights. We are using the Mosquito Lake State Park ramp located on the south east side of the lake. It is located just off of St. Rt. 305.
There will be 3 off-limit areas both days of the tournament. The lake will also be off-limits beginning at 6:00pm Friday April 11. The off limit areas are the cove in which the launch ramp is located. This includes the rock break wall at the entrance of the cove on both inside and outside of the rocks. Also off-limit will be the wildlife area on the north end of the lake and an area around the bridge that should be marked with buoys.
Attention anglers: It is a requirement that insurance verification be in your boat at all times during the event. A random check will be conducted during registration. Also the top 5 angler positions of the tournament must show proof of insurance.
A pre-tournament briefing will take place each morning.
Good luck!

Let me start by saying; please read the tournament rules. There have been some major changes.Once again the members have spoken and the Board of Directors listened. With just 4 weeks until our season begins we have tweaked the format to accommodate the members
The Angler/Co-Angler format that we started with last fall has been adjusted to cover a potential shortage of co-anglers. We did not have a shortage yet but we were getting calls and emails from our members that wanted to be sure they could use their boat. With the cost of a new bass boat exceeding $50,000 who could blame them. Why leave it in the garage if a solution was at hand?
If we had a shortage of Co-Anglers I was looking at pairing 2 Anglers (boaters) together. The problem with this was our current tournament rules made no provisions for this. Yes it would have been easy to copy and paste the old tournament rules to make this happen. But this is the Ohio BASS Federation Nation. We asked our members what they would want to see. Then we, the BOD, made it happen in just one meeting.
We had the Wildcard provision already in place. But the way it was written could mean that Board of Directors could possibly fish alone at every event. This was unacceptable to the BOD members. We could see an avoidable potential problem with the membership.
What have we done? The Linking process is still there and we encourage all members to please link. Todd has done a great job of describing the changes in his weblog. Here are some highlights.
We will do the pairings at the ramp on the night before our tournament. That means we are back to the registration the evening before a tournament. You can register yourself or have another competing angler of the event register for you. No phone in registration will be accepted. You do not need to stay for the pairings meeting immediately following the registration, although we will have some great door prizes. The pairings will be announced at the pairings meeting. They will be posted on the website, on the tournament trailer and at the host hotel. It is up to you to contact your partner. Do not call a tournament official. They will not give information out over the phone.
Thanks to Bret and Michael the on-line payment option is available on our website. Even though you pay on-line you must still complete an entry form and mail to the address listed on the entry form. Be sure to include a phone number where your partner can contact you after the pairings are posted. This is very important to make the morning of the tournament run smoother. Remember this is a circuit where most of the people running the tournament will also be competing. We need your cooperation, patience, and understanding so we can all have a memorable experience.
